The first thing you should think about is what you need from a car. What are the things you
are going to be doing and what type of car best meets those needs?
Here are some questions to consider as a starting point before your visit to Vospers:
For instance, if the car’s mainly used for short journeys, a small city car would probably suit you. If you have a big family you may want to consider a large family car or MPV. If you find it difficult to change gear easily, an automatic might be a good choice.
You’ll also need to think about travelling in the car day to day. Small changes in type, model or specification can have a big impact on your comfort or the car’s suitability. For example, seat height, door opening angle and positioning of the seat belts can all make a big difference. A good place to start is to think about your current car, if you have one, and decide what you like and dislike about it.
Which type of car will be right for you?
Once you’ve worked out what you’ll be using the car for, have a look at the different styles of car. You can see all the cars listed by type, with a short description of what each category means e.g. hatchback, MPVs, 4x4, etc.
Above all, Vospers and Motability aims to make leasing a brand new car affordable. So once you have decided what sort of car would suit you best, you need to know which ones are within your budget.
Choose a car to suit your budget
At Vospers, there’s a wide selection of cars to choose from, suiting all needs and budgets. Use our Advance Payment Tool to find out what's best for your budget.
Choose to pay a little extra
You can increase your choice of cars even further by topping up your allowance with an upfront payment, or what we call an ‘Advance Payment’. This covers the difference between your allowance and the total cost of the lease over the course of your agreement.
Keeping fuel costs down
Don’t forget that your lease includes everything, except fuel, to provide you with worry-free motoring, so you will need to take into account the car’s fuel costs. To keep the running costs down you may want to consider a more fuel efficient engine.
Other factors such as the physical size of the car, the type of driving you do and even having air conditioning can affect its fuel consumption.
Trade-in your old car
If you are new to Motability, you can trade-in your privately owned car to help finance the Advance Payment of your new car.
Once you’ve worked out what type of car you want and looked at the available options, it’s very
important that you come to Vospers and take a few different cars out for a test drive.
A test drive is the only way to find out properly whether a car is right for you and Vospers will be more than happy to arrange this. Even if you choose a car similar to the one you drive now, you may well discover that the manufacturer has made a number of changes and alterations to the
latest model, so it is advisable to take a test drive to make sure you are still happy with your choice. There are three parts to a successful test drive:
Vospers will let you know what the expected delivery time might be.
Test driving automatics, adapted cars and WAVs
If you want to test drive an automatic car you will need to arrange this when you call Vospers as there are often less of these models available on site. To try out adaptations, please call your local Vospers to discuss your requirements. Meanwhile, if you are opting for a WAV, specialist WAV converters will travel to your home to help make this easier.
