Where can I charge my electric vehicle?

Charging an electric vehicle couldn’t be easier

At Vospers, we stock a wide range of electrified vehicles produced by popular and respected brands such as Abarth, Alfa Romeo, CUPRA, Fiat, Ford, Jeep, Mazda, MG, Peugeot and SEAT.

If you choose one of our 100% electric vehicles (EVs) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), you’ll need to charge it –and there are a plethora of charging options are available.

Alternatively, why not select a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) which offers self-charging convenience?

Charging in Public

As of the end of April 2024, there were more than 61,200 vehicle chargepoints across 32,600-plus UK locations – and more are being added all the time. The benefits of public charging include rapid-charging capabilities, which means even less time spent waiting while your vehicle’s battery tops up.

Charging from Home

The majority of EV and PHEV owners charge their vehicles at home, which is not surprising since a range of domestic charging options are available.

  • Conventional three-pin socket – This simple method uses a standard wall socket, to which you connect your car’s charging cable. Although it’s the slowest charging procedure (rated at 3 kW), it's ideal for overnight charging.
  • Dedicated home chargers – These specially designed EV chargers usually provide between 7 kW and 22 kW of power, which means faster charging speeds.
  • Wallbox chargers – A popular form of domestic charger, a wallbox can be mounted on an external wall or garage and it typically offers speeds of 7 kW to 22 kW. A wallbox often features smart technology to control charging times and monitor energy usage.
  • Smart chargers – Smart because they connect to the internet, enabling remote charging via a smartphone app and integration with home energy systems.
  • Solar charging – Homeowners with solar panels can use solar-generated electricity to charge their EVs, thus making use of renewable energy and potentially reducing the cost of charging significantly.

Charging at Work

In the UK, several schemes and incentives encourage the installation of workplace EV chargepoints, which means that more businesses than ever are promoting the use of electrified vehicles among employees.

How to charge?

Charge Points

Because of the variety of charging options, the time it takes to charge an EV or PHEV varies – and charging speeds are dependent on other factors…

How fast?

How fast can chargers be?

How long will my vehicle take to fully charge?

This will depend on your EV/PHEV’s battery capacity and the charging method employed. Use this simple formula to estimate the charging time for your vehicle:

Battery capacity ÷ Charge power = Charge time

90 kWh     50kWh charger     1.8 hours to charge

90kwh Battery
50kwh Charger
2 Hours to charge
